  1. Create a backup (optional but recommended)
  2. Copy default data
  3. Install the new software
  4. Update shortcuts
  5. Reset commands to the defaults

1. Create a backup

Decide where you want to install the program. The default install to folder is
C:\Program Files\Easy Calendar 3
If the current program folder is the same as the install to folder copy the data (.ec2 and .rm2 files) to some other folder to create the backup. My Documents would be a good place as it is the new default file location for Easy Calendar 3.2

If the current program folder is different than the install to folder it is easy to create a backup by creating the install to folder and copying the current program folder contents to the install to folder.

2. Copy default data

Locate the default files.
The old default calendar files are calendar.ec2 and calendar.rm2 in the application folder.
The default reminder file is calendar.rm2, default.rm2 or a user defined reminder file according to the option set in the reminder program.
If you are currently using a version of Easy Calendar prior to 3.0 then there are no .rm2 files associated with the calendar.
The new default file location is the My Documents folder. It can also be customized from the calendar instance which has the default file open for writing.
Decide where you want to key the default file and copy it there.

3. Install the new software

Download the program from the link
http://www.hammersoftware.com/eascal.exe
Then open, execute or run it from windows, not from inside some other application. There are probably a dozen ways to open, execute or run a program. One way is to locate the file in the windows explorer, "my computer" or "my documents", right click it (or however you invoke the context sensitive menu on your system) and select "open".  You must exit all instances of Easy Calendar and Hammer Reminders which are running. Use the file exit command to make sure the program is exited and not just minimized into the taskbar.

4. Update Shortcuts

If the install to folder is not the same as current program folder find any short cuts to the calendar or reminders programs and update them. It may be easiest to delete them and create new shortcuts to the location of the install to folder. You can change a shortcuts properties by invoking the context sensitive menu (maybe right click) and selecting properties. It's probably best to changed both the target location and start in folders to conform to the install to folder location.

5. Reset commands to the defaults

If you where using a version 3.x calendar before the upgrade, skip this step.
  1. Click the Options menu
  2. Click Commands
  3. Click the Default button
  4. Click the OK button
